An Iyengar Yoga Retreat in Ubud, Bali
with Suzi Chin Silicz
Dates for 2026 Retreat are October 17-25.
Bookings open February, 2026.
The Bali Retreat is thoughtfully planned so there is time to focus on yoga, being on retreat and taking a break. Arrive Saturday October 17th for the Sunday morning start. The retreat concludes Sunday, October 25th by 12 noon.
The Yoga sessions are held in the covered open air space which is exclusively our shala for the week. It has a cool floor and looks out onto tropical gardens. The morning sessions start with a guided meditation followed by yoga asana class. Then we get together again later in the afternoons for restorative yoga or pranayama.
The retreat is for anyone who has at least 1-2 years of current yoga experience to more experienced practitioners. Due to this being an Iyengar Yoga retreat, experience in the Iyengar method is an advantage however not all cities and regions have access to Iyengar classes. Iyengar yoga is basically classic Hatha Yoga, which is the common practice of physical yoga around the globe.
The venue is an established Balinese family run hotel with friendly staff who welcome us with open hearts. The whole boutique villa style property is situated within a jungle atmosphere and within easy walking distance into Ubud central. The unique balinese style rooms are nestled in wonderful gardens, some overlook the valley, others look out on to the gardens. There is also an open air dining room and swimming pool. We also stay in the sister hotel across the road, a 5 minute walk from where we do yoga. It has wonderful gardens, a swimming pool and a spa for massages etc. The retreat group often visit the spa and also have access to the sister hotel’s pool.
Ubud is the cultural and arts centre of Bali. There are many places of interest to visit or spend free time during the days and evenings just relaxing. Bali is part of the Indonesian archipelago and is predominately Hindu in faith.
